英语演讲比赛演讲稿

   参加了全校第4届"华南杯"英语演讲比赛,下面是我的正式演讲稿,留着做个纪念吧!虽然才拿了一个优胜奖,但我也拿了83.86分呢!就算是自娱自乐一下吧!
    在回答Question环节,由于自己过分紧张,没听清老师的问题,所以回答的"驴唇不对马嘴",而后,在即兴演讲时,心情受回答问题时的影响,所以导致原本准备很充分的即兴演讲搞的不很理想!
    不过,一切都已经过去,我从中也学会了很多东西,还有很多学长的帮助!都谢谢大家了!以后我努力不再辜负大家的期望!

The Value of Life

Ladies and Gentlemen:

     Good afternoon!

     I’m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. Today, my topic is “the Value of Life.” I hope you will like it and find the importance of your life so that you can cherish it more.

     First, I want to ask you some questions:

1.  What life is about?

2.  How do you value your life?

     Life is not about keeping score. It is not about how many plans we have or how successful you are. Not about if you have work this weekend or if you should work overtime.

     Work is only necessary to keep us living so as to enjoy the beauty and pleasures of life. The elderly Walter E. Disney once said to his son, when he had got ready to retire, “The secret of life can be summed up in four words: family first, then work!” We push hard everyday to work and study. That is not wrong, but we sometimes forgot to care about our health, spend time with our family, appreciate the surrounding beauty and do our hobbies. One day when we look back, we will realize that we don’t really need that much, but then we cannot turn back time for what we have missed and what we really needed.

    Life is not about making money, pursuing power or recognition. Value your life, poor as it is. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the alms-house as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its door as early in their spring.

     Life is actually about a balance of work and play, family and personal time. You have to decide how you want to balance your life. Define your priorities, realize what you are able to compromise, but always let some of your decisions be based on your instincts. Happiness is the meaning and the purpose of life, the whole aim of human existence. Thus, make every day count. Appreciate every moment and take as much as you can from those moments because you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people who you have never really communicated with before, and listen to what they say by heart.

      My dear friends, take it easy, do what you want to do and you can make anything you wish of your life. Just like a famous saying goes: “Life was like a box of chocolate, you never know what you are going to get!” Of course, life is fragile. Life is transitory. Do not take life for granted. Create your own life and then enjoy it with absolutely no regrets.
