　　Thankyou，GeneralHagenbeck，foryourintroduction，onadaythatholdsspecialmeaningforyouandtheDean，GeneralFinnegan。BothofyoufirstcametoWestPointintheClassof1971andwentontoinspiresoldiersunderyourcommand。You'veledthisAcademytoawell-deservedrecognition：bestcollegeinAmerica。（Applause。）Andtoday，you'rebothlookingforwardtoawell-deservedretirementfromtheArmy。GeneralHagenbeckandJudy，GeneralFinneganandJoan，wethankyoufor39yearsofremarkableservicetotheArmyandtoAmerica。（Applause。）

　　TotheCommandant，GeneralRapp，theAcademystaffandfaculty，mostofwhomareveterans，thankyouforyourserviceandforinspiringthesecadetstobecomethe"leadersofcharacter"theyaretoday。（Applause。）LetmealsoacknowledgethepresenceofGeneralShinseki，SecretaryMcHugh，themembersofCongresswhoarewithusheretoday，includingtwoformersoldiersthisAcademyknowswell，SenatorJackReedandCongressmanPatrickMurphy。（Applause。）
　　Toallthefamilieshere——especiallyallthemomsanddads——thisdayisatributetoyouaswell。ThedecisiontocometoWestPointwasmadebyyoursonsanddaughters，butitwasyouwhoinstilledinthemaspiritofservicethathasledthemtothishallowedplaceinatimeofwar。SoonbehalfoftheAmericanpeople，thankyouforyourexampleandthankyouforyourpatriotism。（Applause。）
　　TotheUnitedStatesCorpsofCadets，andmostofall，theClassof2010——itisasingularhonortoserveasyourCommander-in-Chief。AsyourSuperintendentindicated，underourconstitutionalsystemmypowerasPresidentiswiselylimited。Buttherearesomeareaswheremypowerisabsolute。Andso，asyourCommander-in-Chief，Iherebyabsolveallcadetswhoareonrestrictionforminorconductoffenses。（Applause。）Iwillleavethedefinitionof"minor"——（laughter）——tothosewhoknowbetter。（Laughter。）

　　Classof2010，todayisyourday——adaytocelebrateallthatyou'veachieved，inthefinesttraditionofthesoldier-scholar，andtolookforwardtotheimportantservicethatliesahead。
　　YouhavepushedyourselfthroughtheagonyofBeastBarracks，theweeksoftraininginrainandmud，and，I'mtold，moreinspectionsanddrillsthanperhapsanyclassbeforeyou。Alongtheway，I'msureyoufacedafewmomentswhenyouaskedyourself："WhatamIdoinghere？"Ihavethosemomentssometimes。（Laughter。）
　　You'vetrainedforthecomplexitiesoftoday'smissions，knowingthatsuccesswillbemeasurednotmerelybyperformanceonthebattlefield，butalsobyyourunderstandingoftheculturesandtraditionsandlanguagesintheplacewhereyouserve。
　　You'vereachedoutacrossborders，withmoreinternationalexperiencethananyclassinAcademyhistory。You'venotonlyattendedforeignacademiestoforgenewfriendships，you'vewelcomedintoyourrankscadetsfromnearlyadozencountries。
　　You'vechallengedyourselfintellectuallyinthesciencesandthehumanities，inhistoryandtechnology。You'veachievedastandardofacademicexcellencethatiswithoutquestion，tyingtherecordforthemostpost-graduatescholarshipsofanyclassinWestPointhistory。（Applause。）
　　Thisincludesyournumberoneoverallcadetandyourvaledictorian——LizBetterbedandAlexRosenberg。Andbytheway，thisisthefirsttimeinAcademyhistorywhereyourtwotopawardshavebeenearnedbyfemalecandidates。（Applause。）
　　ThisunderscoresafactthatI'veseeninthefacesofourtroopsfromBaghdadtoBagram——inthe21stcentury，ourwomeninuniformplayanindispensableroleinournationaldefense。Andtimeandagain，theyhaveproventhemselvestoberolemodelsforourdaughtersandoursons——asstudentsandassoldiersandasleadersintheUnitedStatesarmedforces。
　　Andthefacesinthisstadiumshowasimpletruth：America'sArmyrepresentsthefullbreadthofAmerica'sexperience。Youcomefromeverycornerofourcountry——fromprivilegeandfrompoverty，fromcitiesandsmalltowns。Youworshipallofthegreatreligionsthatenrichthelifeofourpeople。Youincludethevastdiversityofraceandethnicitythatisfundamentaltoournation'sstrength。
　　Thereis，however，onethingthatsetsyouapart。Hereinthesequiethills，you'vecometogethertoprepareforthemostdifficulttestofourtime。Yousignedupknowingyourservicewouldsendyouintoharm'sway，andyoudidsolongafterthefirstdrumsofwarweresounded。Inyouweseethecommitmentofourcountry，andtimelessvirtuesthathaveservedournationwell。
　　Weseeyoursenseofduty——includingthosewhohaveearnedtheirrightshoulderpatch——theirrightshouldercombatpatches，likethesoldierwhosufferedagrenadewoundinIraq，yetstillhelpedhisfellowsoldierstoevacuate——yourFirstCaptainoftheCorpsofCadets，TylerGordy。（Applause。）
　　Weseeyoursenseofhonor——inyourrespectfortradition，knowingthatyoujoinaLongGreyLinethatstretchesthroughthecenturies；andinyourreverenceforeachother，aswhentheCorpsstandsinsilenceeverytimeaformercadetmakestheultimatesacrificeforournation。Indeed，todaywehonorthe78graduatesofthisAcademywhohavegiventheirlivesforourfreedomandoursecurityinIraqandAfghanistan。(责任编辑：一枝笔写作)
